It lies along the mountain slopes which form the hook where the Arno river “skirts round the Aretines”,”torce il muso”agli Aretini as Dante writes in the “Divina Commedia” (Purgatorio, XV,48). Of medieval origin, its two sides connected by a Roman bridge, Capolona is the gateway to the Casentino.
