The wonderful city of Siena was founded by the Romans as a Colony of the Tuscia Region and was afterwards contended between the Diocese of Arezzo and Siena, contention joined also by the Longobardian king Liutprando. Today famous as an economic and industrial centre, with an important university as well as the “Città del Palio”, an ancient horse race that takes place twice a year in the famous “Piazza del Campo” (the main square). Siena has been declared by the UNESCO “World heritage site”.
Siena is undoubtedly the main province for the production of the Chianti wine, that takes the name of Chianti Colli Senesi . This gorgeous medieval Castle dating back to XIII Century lies right on a hilltop in the vicinity of Siena and dominates the whole valley from where you can see its four angular towers . The Castle, once a military fortress used to protect Siena, disposes onto four levels for a total surface of 1400 square metres.
THE CASTLE: In the basement of a tower there is a private chapel of 30 square metres. From the main entrance, it is reachable via the internal cloister on which faces the cellars and other rooms used for vinification and production of oil. The first floor has been divided into three apartments, composed as follows. Unit n1 (60 square metres): Still to be restored, this apartment is now used as storage. It is possible to create: kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom. Unit n 2 (80 square metres): Composed of entrance, living room with fireplace, master bedroom and bathroom. Unit n 3 (90 square metres): Entrance, living room with old fireplace, kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom.
On the second floor there is the master’s apartment composed of: living room with fireplace, kitchen, two sitting rooms, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. From this floor is reachable one of the four towers where it is possible to create two bedrooms with beautiful view onto Siena and the hills around it. On the third floor, finally, there is : large and bright living room with fireplace, breakfast room and library which gives access to the tower where there is a bedroom with bathroom and mezzanine. From another bedroom, still with en suite bathroom, it is possible to access the southern tower, where another bedroom has been created.
The annex, an old tithe barn disposed on two levels, needs a full restoration. A marvellous Italian garden surrounds the property.
LAND: A plot of 15 hectares of land, including 400 olive trees and 1,2 hectares of Chianti Colli Senesi surrounds the property providing privacy for such an exclusive project.
